Debasish Lahiri
Debasish Lahiri, founder member of Caesurae, teaches English literature at Lal Baba College, affiliated to the University of Calcutta. He has also taught widely at the Post-Graduate and M.Phil level at several Indian and foreign Universities including the University of Calcutta,Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal State University, Osmania University, Himachal Pradesh University, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Lancaster.
His writings on Postcolonial theory, African and Australian Poetry, and European Modernism, especially its poetic manifestations, and have been published in international journals and books. His poems have also been widely published in journals like The Journal of the Poetry Society of India, Muse-India, Indian Literature, Inkapture from Durham UK, The Poetry Salzburg Review,Weber: The Contemporary West &c. His first book of poems FIRST WILL AND TESTAMENT was published from Writers Workshop in 2012. He is working on his second book of ‘travel’ poems. Lahiri is on the review board of the journal Postcolonial Text brought out by the Open Humanities Press. He is on the editorial board of the journal Gitanjali & After, published from the Scottish Centre for Tagore Studies. He is also a reviewer and regular contributor to the Life & Letters Column of The Statesman, one of India’s leading dailies.
