Saikat Majumdar

Saikat Majumdar teaches world literature at Stanford University. He is the author of a novel, Silverfish (HarperCollins, 2007), and a book of criticism, Prose of the World (Columbia UP and Orient Blackswan, 2013), a finalist for the Modernist Studies Association Annual Book Prize. He is currently working on a book titled The Amateur, a study of the literary public intellectual from the global British Empire as an amateur and autodidactic figure. An essay from this project was published in the March 2015 issue of PMLA, the Publication of the Modern Language Association of America.

 

Saikat’s second novel, The Firebird, set in the world of Indian theatre, has been recently published in 2015 and excerpted in The Kenyon Review and World Literature Today.
