Shyamala Sajnani was born into a family of musicians. Music has been the very essence of her life. Her mother – her teacher and guide – initiated young Shaymala to play the Saraswati Veena from a tender age of six years. Her father – a renowned music director – helped hone her skills. Shyamala has performed for background scores and songs, for a sizeable number of South-Indian films. She is a recognized artist on the Mumbai station of the All India Radio (now known as Prasar Bharati Corporation). She has also performed on Doordarshan -Chennai, for music albums and has rendered Jazz Music on the Saraswati Veena with Shri T V Gopalakrishnan and Shivamani. She has also played for several International music festivals – notable amongst them, the Festival of India in Switzerland, France and Germany.
