Supratik Chatterjee

Supratik Chatterjee started his musical journey in tabla at a tender age of four from the doyen of Indian Classical Music, the legend Pt. Shankar Ghosh. He is under his tutelage for the past 22 years now. He is also influenced by his maternal grandfather, a disciple of the legendary Pt. Ravi Shankar. His first public performance was at the age of six and continues to perform tabla solo and accompaniment.

 

He has performed tabla solo & accompaniment in different dias in and around Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana, Lucknow, Punjab, Sikkim and many more.

 

Awards:

 

1. Selected to represent state for the President’s Award by All India

Radio, Kolkata in 2009.

 

2. Stood 1st in Paschimbanga Rajya Sangeet Academy talent search competition on 15.1.10.

 

3. Stood 1st in Doverlane Music Talent Search Contest on 6.1.10. Awarded the prestigious Provat Kumar Das Memorial trophy.

 

4. Felicitated by Kamal Gupta Memorial Foundation as “the best young talent of India for 2009″ on 12th Feb, 2010.

 

5. Stood 1st in the senior group in Guru Jnan Prakash Ghosh Memorial Foundation talent search competition on 22.12.02

 

6. Awarded the prestigious “Sangeet Piyasi” Scholarship in memory of late Shri Krishna Kumar Ganguly (Natu Babu) on 29.07.02

 

7. Stood 1st in Maya Mitra Music Competition for the junior group on 26.1.03 & for the senior group on 28.12.08.

 

8. Stood 1st in inter-school music competition “Eduvision & Impulse” hosted by B.D.Memorial Institute.

 

Performances:

 

Performed at Doverlane Music Conference periodic concert on 30th

July at Kalamandir.

 

He was invited by Bharatiya Sanskriti Parisad to present a tabla solo in a concert titled “Children of International Repute of UK & India”. He was the only Indian there.

 

Performed Tabla Solo at ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Rajya Sangeet Academy, at Niranjan Sadan organized by Spandan Art Academy, at Rabindra Bhavan(Diamond Harbour) hosted by Sadhana Music Circle, at Kala Mandir organised by Guru Jnan Prakash Ghosh Memorial Foundation, at Aurobindo Institute of Culture, at CLT to name a few.

 

Accompanied musicians at Epicenter (Gurgaon), Aurobindo Ashram(New Delhi), ICCR(Kolkata), Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Hall (Lucknow), Birla Academy organized by Nandan Music Circle, at University of Women’s Association of Kolkata, at Rabindra Bhavan by Dakhini Music Circle, at Sangeetacharya Radhika Mohan Maitra Music Conference, 65 years old historic Agrabani Club(Beleghata,WB), at Eclecia-annual fest at Heritage Institute of Technology, at Bengal Engineering & Science University, Sibpur, at Bosepukur Sarbojonin Durgatsov.

 

At the age of thirteen, he conducted workshops on mathematics of Taals & Tehais to students, most of whom where senior to him.

He conducted a Taal workshop along with Guruji Pt.Shankar Ghosh at

ITC Sangeet Research Academy.

 

Invited to Sikkim University as a lecturer for “Cultural Translation Workshop “.

He played in Doordarshan (Kolkata), All India Radio(Kolkata) and French TV.

He was invited as “guest child artist” by Radio Snap, RPG network where his tabla solo & accompaniment were broadcast live from their studio. It was anchored by the famous radio personality Sri Satinath Mukherjee.

 

Supratik was invited by one of the largest CBSE schools in state. B. D M. International School to conduct a workshop with 200 students on “Heritage Instruments of India”.

 

He also imparts tabla training to students whose age range from 4 to 35 and conducts “Music Appreciation” workshops in many schools and universities.

Apart from being a musician, Supratik is a Computer Science Engineer and is working as a SAP Consultant in Tata Consultancy Services from 2012.
